I don’t. I blame my high expectations, the quality of men around me growing up, and the knowledge that I deserve better than the treatment the women around me received. Books are my escape from reality, but they taught me high morals, right from wrong, and that wanting something better for my life is something that is achievable. Books made me dust off the muck from my small country town and the bigoted denizens who live there, and go to university, gain an education and make myself someone I am proud to be. Books saved my life. I would have been dead or without hope, living in a small country town if books hadn’t helped me want more for myself. Sounds melodramatic, but it is the god honest truth. Yeay books!
